About my first time cockatiel?

i got my bird about two and a half weeks ago. he is roughly speaking 5 months old. i have noticed that lately he is grinding his beak. is that mundane? he also has cold feet in the morning. but when i hold him he get warm again. also when i hold him he loves to be close and covers his head in my hand. is that ok? how many blankets could i put over his cage so he wont get cold also? appreciation
Answers:    Congrats on getting a cockoteil, make sure you play with it for a partially an ohur a day or else it will get connote so you cant play with anymore wit hout getting bit. and they can draw blood. grind ing the beak is normal, it sharpens it, and itches it. the cold feet is everyday, mine has it to, its because its the perches and stuff like that.and ghes a moment ago showing affection and letting you know he wants to be pet on the head. in the winter we generally put one thick or about 6-7 towels, the chilly days mabey4, and summer a dark sheet. depending on the warmth. make sure you always enjoy a corner open for air, and for a little lighting in case hes afraid of the dark, or so he doesnt fly into the wall of the shut within. my pocket parrot died because my mom saw the corner open to the hall night light, and coverd it, and he freaked out and flew into the wall, and hit his head. good luck and congrats.
