Amazon parrot consumption pomergranits?
can an orange winged amazon have a pomergranit fruit
Yes most parrot love eating pomegranate. Its a great snack.
All three of my caiques LOVE pomegranate. I can only get it in the colder months within my part of the country, so they only get them from September til March, but they will gap themselves on pomegranate. The ONLY downside is it makes their poops PURPLE, and stain, so I have to do double duty on the carpet spot-cleaning when they're on their pomegranate see. I just bought six of the biggest poms I have ever seen -- these things look resembling grapefruit -- so we'll be in pomegranate heaven around here for at least a month.
Answers: Yes, they love it, and it does enjoy some nutritional value. Too much fruit or veggies can cause wet droppings because of the glorious moisture content. This is not the same a diarrhea. The only things you should not feed your bird is.
Avocado
Chocolate
Alcohol
Apple, peach or nectarine seed
Any drinks with caffeine or carbonation
Sugary treats
Food with added salt
Only for a while cheese or milk products. It can cause diarrhea because they are lactose intolerant. Some yogurt or mozzarella cheese is ok because of the way it is processed.
They can eat nearly everything that you can, but don't make it their main diet. A pelleted diet is best and then make a payment some fruit and veggies and table food. Please read my profile
Yes, as a treat I bet they love it. Parakeets do.
