Another brood of adorable muscovys ducklings wipe out contained by 2 days, is here anything I can do?
I live on a canal in south florida and its very upsetting to see many batches of baby ducklings completely wiped out surrounded by days. I used to think that raccoons and large birds were the key predators of the innocent ducklings, but after witnessing horrific underwater attacks this past weekend, im convinced its either snapping turtles or the colossal fish (bass, carp) in the canal. Is there anything I can to at tiniest give these ducklings a chance? After watching 3 ducklings get sucked lower than the water, I was so furious that i was equipped to run out to the canal and just start clubbing the fish in the dampen with a baseball bat. (obviously I didn't do that). I found a pet store that's sells duck and wild waterfowl food, so i other through some out when i see them. After that the mother carelessly swims right into the canal setting up the poor adorable ducklings to a watery grave. Any suggestion on this situation or of is it better to just sit back and let spirit run its course?
Answers: Hi Ryan when I had the problem with the Ducks I called the City Dept. Of Permits and Ordinance they explain to me the circumstances below which he Ducks could be relocated and one of them was if they were surrounded by danger. Let them know what's going on and that this is not the first time they might give you an idea.
I'm so sorry to hear that
Miriam
Muskovies are domestic ducks and letting them roam free is a threat to our indigenous ducks. At smallest, if they can be usefull feeding wild aboriginal turtles, let it be!!
If you can't bear to see it, just look elsewhere!
