My african grey beak have snapped at the bottom. Its not bleeding presently. But it looks close to the bottle is showing?
please could someone help.
Avian Vet ASAP! Call, ask what to do temporarily, afterwards get the bird in ASAP please!
Yes, someone could help. An avian vet. If you don't hurry up and take her to one, she'll likely starve to annihilation because the pain in her beak makes consumption an excruciating task. Go here to find a nearby avian vet: http://aav.org/vet-lookup/
Answers: I can't know how badly the break is without knowing how much blood be lost, if any. Did you find blood smears on the bars and/or perches, or did you see blood drips on the tabloid at the bottom?
What do you mean by "it looks like the nerve is showing?" There is no resolve, as such in a parrot's beak. It's not like a tooth that has root nerves, but more approaching finger nail. When you file or cut too far up the beak, sometimes you will see what looks like fibers... could you expect that?
If there wasn't blood loss, and the bird is eating, it's probably OK. You may want to offer soft foods for awhile, similar to rice, beans, or pasta.
But the only sure-fire answer on its health is to have an avian vet look at the beak. Sometimes, mending beside a special adhesive is required for faster healing, and the least discomfort for the bird. If it turns alright, you'll know for certain, and your bird will have a check up, which is always a good entity.
Good luck.
that could be a problem. if your not careful something doomed to failure could get under were the beak is broken & hurt your bird. sort sure it stays clean and take it to the vet ASAP
Call avian vet and take bird asap. If it starts to bleed can bleed to disappearance in mins. If does bleed apply flour or cornstarch to wound. Best bet vet soon. Keep her warm and offer soft foods singular right now.
