Can I own a sand cat as a pet?
I saw them at the zoo today and they are sooo cute. I think I have hear of them as pets. Anyone know for sure? And if so, do you know where I can acquire one?
Answers: I sincerely doubt it and even if it is legal it is a wild animal and as such does NOT variety a good pet. I have included a link to some information on the cats, but whether you like the idea of having a pet that have a similar look or mannerisms to a wild cat then look at bengals, ocicats, or pixie-bobs.
Wild animals, even whether bred in captivity, do not adapt well to duration as a pet. They often exhibit undesirable behaviors that while perfectly normal within it's natural environment, are destructive or dangerous within the confines of a household.

Please do not bring one of these animals just because it's "cute". It takes a lot of work and schooling to care for one properly and you would probably have to have a special license and insurance to be allowed to save one. There are plenty of cute, domestic animals that need homes. Go adopt a cat from your local shelter and leave the wild ones where on earth they belong. In the wild.
