can i enjoy TWOO kitty cats?
ok so i have my cat precious and i love her...but i want another cat but i am soo worried about felive and one of them catching it then giving it to the other...after i dig TWOO kitty graves :( how could i be sure they dont get it?
Sure! I rescue cats and have 4 indoors (LOTS of work), and 3 outdoors. Food, cleaning supplies, vet visit, litter, all gets expensive!
Ok..whats felive? Whatever it is bring back it tested by a vet and ask the vet if it is contagious and if you can get another cat.
EDIT: ohhh sly leukemia. well first off, did you get your cat tested for it and did it come out positive? If it did next read this:
How is FeLV spread?
Cats persistently infected with FeLV serve as sources of infection. Virus is shed in massively high quantities in saliva and nasal secretion, but also in urine, feces, and milk from infected cats. Cat-to-cat transfer of virus may occur from a bite wound, during mutual grooming, and (though rarely) through the shared use of litter boxes and feed dishes. Transmission can also take place from an infected mother cat to her kittens, either before they are born or while they are nursing. FeLV doesn't survive long external a cat's body—probably less than a few hours under normal household conditions.
Answers: Simple, procure any cat tested for FIV and Feline leukemia before bringing it home and keep the cats inside. TADA!
sure you can sweety.. always bring them tested before bringing them home. once home, its best to consent to them introduce them selves.. if yo uahve a cat carrier with a grille front, you can use that as the short-term home for the new one until they get used to respectively other..less fur flying that way
try to bring another cat thats similar in age that way they can try getting along, you can try getting a kitten but introduce the cat you already have surrounded by a carrier to prevent any fights. this will make the cat more safer and ensure that the other cat/kitten wont harm it and just want to be used to having another cat around. my best thought to tell you is going back to the breeder you got the first cat from, and ask be the cat social-able when it was young that way it will ensure you the owner that it is not detrimental to bring another feline into the household.
Sure you could, but what is felive?
