I am vastly worried I'm not one a fitting cat owner. Please give support to.?
I have had my new kitten for nearly 2 weeks in a minute. He is a 3 month old Himalayan. I also have an 11 month old neuter male Persian. The first week I had my kitten he was particularly social, purred constantly and was not afraid of people. I have very soon noticed that he is purring less (only at night surrounded by bed with me and in the mornings when we are together before I give for work, and when he is very calm). He is also a bit skiddish around mother and a little bit around me. He is alone with my 11 month older during the day while I am at work. What could have caused this behavior transmute in him? Have I done something wrong in socializing him? Any advice or suggestions as to what's stirring is greatly appreciated because I do not want him to be shy and skiddish. If there is something I can do please let me know. Thank you!!
Also, I should mentioned I've been putting Christmas decorations up around the house. Could this coppers be having some effect on him?
I also have a 1 yr old himalayan. i got him end Oct. the first 3 weeks or so, he literally slept on top of my head on the pillow...he then found other fav spots to sleep contained by (pretty much every inch on my apt).
Even now, he still won't sleep w/ us in the bed, only whether he's not feeling well. But he did pick up a new way the past week or so to come on the bed anywhere from 2AM - 4 AM sit on me and purr as loud as he possibly can and lick my hands...lol. It's annoying but super cute.
I think you're doing great.
As for the Christmas decorations...I don`t know it's different w/ every cat. But last xmas, i too was scared of what he might do, so we in actual fact tied the xmas tree so he wouldn't knock it down. The only thing he did is sleep under the xmas tree (which made for great 1st xmas pics) and play w./ the wrapping broadsheet when it came down to opening presents. Good luck and MERRY CHRISTMAS <3
Your older cat may not be tolerating the new kitten in your nothingness. It happens. My first question would be whether you introduced them slowly or just brought the exotic cat into the house? Generally speaking, if you take the new cat/kitten and put them within a separate area with their own food/water/litterbox for a week to two weeks, they socialize much better.
Cats a territorial animals and having them "play" underneath the door between rooms before introducing them can cut down on territorial aggressiveness later on. And, were I to transport a guess, that's what I imagine is going on here.
Eventually, they will either learn to cohabitate powerfully or they will each claim an area of the house and not socialize with respectively other at all. You cannot force them to like each other, unhappily.
But do look up the aspca info and be sure you're not putting up decorations that can harm your cats.
i have a cat and when he was a kitten he went positively CRAZY when he was around christmas decorations ( he knocked over the tree oncece too ) your cat will be fine hes just settling surrounded by let him explore and soon hell feel comfortable in your house
