how to solve this problem?
thankfulness
There is a spray call Feliway that you can order that is for cats that fight. It have some feel good pheromones in it. They also mart it in a diffuser. You can get it at petsmart but I think they are one of the more expensive ones.
My sister worked at a rescue of hundreds of cats surrounded by Nevada and that is what they used to help with the fight.
Also if they are both males you should get them both fixed so they don't fight for realm rights.
I brought an 8 wk old kitten domestic when I had an older cat. The older one without delay went the the kitten's neck so I separated them for a few days. When I let them together a few days following, she went for the back of his neck again. A partly hour later the little one was chasing the older one around the house. Turns out they be just playing. They were best buds for a litte over 9 yrs, until I had to put the younger one to sleep.
Keep an eye on them when they're together. It may be that the elder one is trying to play with the kitten and at the same time trying to let the kitten know who's the boss.
poor thing.i think the cat is overprotective.
alpha cat is assserting his authority, and this is how cats learn the pecking order... weve had abundant cats over 30yrs... they all hiss and spit, with a bit of smacking and whacking...
continue till the kitten is about 20weeks, theyll both drive you mad chasing each other... and curling up within front of the fire.. together...
let em get on with it, they'll sort it out...
Answers: this is a dominance issue and also a training issue for you kitten
the older cat is taking place withing the pride of top cat your kitten will soon fight rear legs but it is not aggression it teaches the kitten to hunt, to stalk and also to fight which in the big doomed to failure world is very important.
if you look at tigers and lions contained by the wild the lion or male tiger will sometimes plaw with the cub but when he requests to say he is top cat he will our pet cats are very much alike, your cat will not kill him a short time ago put him in his place and you just have to tolerate them sort themselves out
if the kitten is biting to hard the mother or farther will show them the boundries and beat them down to enunciate NO
its a cat thing dont worry
just leave them alone the older cat is trying to agree to the newcommer know HEY im the boss of this HOUSE! dont keep them in seprate rooms that will just aggitate the elder cat more.. let them hash it out...
i get the impression bad 4 the little kitten. maybe, the cat is jealous. u should also spend some time near him. the cat could be trying to kill the kitten or defeat the kitten so that the little kitten knows whose boss. ask your vet. he/she can giv you more info. righteous luck.
