Bullmastiff puppy is scratching/chafing below front legs (armpit area)?

My 3 month old bullmastiff puppy is scratching under his front legs and I'm running out of design. I tried petroleum jelly, but he kept scratching. He doesn't wear a harness often, and has not worn it since up to that time this started. He also tends to scratch only while within his crate, where I have changed the towels every day so there's no dirt on them. I'm looking for something that will relieve his itching until I can acquire him to the vet.
OMG what did your vet utter? Did you even telephone for advice? Contact one of the Ask A Vet websites? I *know* you did more than just ask a bunch of pet owners, some younger than 13, on this Answers site, right?
he could a moment ago have dry skin.
try some kind of moisturizing oatmeal shampoo and possibly doggy conditioner.
don't use flea control shampoo.
also trying washing his towels and blankets within detergent that is made for sensitive skin.
don't put petroleum jelly on it, try something more gentle. they make this stuff call Udder cream, it's for cows, but they sell it at pharmacies for human use too. Its safe to use on dogs and its non scented and non greasy.
Good Luck.
Answers:    Unfortunately, you will need to go to the vet and get a round of antibiotics. Bull mastiffs are susceptible to a systemic microbes infection that causes their skin to become inflamed.

My vet says it is similar to teenage acne and they should eventually grow out of it.

U can use topical treatments to relieve the itch, but you will not wipe out the source.

Here are a few things to try: if you can go to walmart and get;

the antibacterial shampoo within the pet section.
or get the Mane and Tail shampoo ( you don't need both)

Lanacaine within the pharmacy section (the spray will help stop the itching.)

Shampoo him thoroughly twice and rinse him thoroughly. Then, spray the infected area near the Lanacaine

It would help if I knew what type of meds you hold on hand. Our vet has had us to administer children's benadryl to our pups when their allergies act up.

Again, the vet needs to see your pup.

Hope this helped
