It is simply the media. Everything is "labeled" a Pit presently, even dogs that look nothing like pits. Many are uneducated and believe everything they here.
i have a staffordshire terrier/lab and shes the best dog ever! don't permit people tell you Pit Bulls are bad because the problem is it adjectives depends on the owner if you are a good owner they are fine. Their is a hereditary aggression also which is from backyard breeders who breed mother and son. The bar is the most ridiculous thing that has ever happened!!
And to those empire who say they are mean 80% of the dog attacks this year were from Golden Retrievers NOT PIT BULLS!!
pit bulls are not at all mean, they are one of the most loyal dogs you can own. They are made mean by people who fight them. its not in attendance nature at all. I have worked for a veternarian for several years and enjoy only seen one mean pit.
No I don't think they are mean. They CAN be aggressive. Pit Bulls are a dog. Period. Like any other dog. German Shepherd, Chihuahua, Lab, Golden, Collie, Lhasa Apso. All dogs are capable of anyone aggressive and all dogs are capable of biting. Pit Bulls as well as other dominant, dog aggressive breeds obligation more hands on training and socialization when they're young compared to other breeds. But overall they really aren't "meaner" than any other breed out there.
Not at all! My friend have one and he's constantly just on your lap, and he lovesss puppies and kittens.

No pit bulls are not mean unless they are trained to be. I own a pit bull and my family runs a non-profit organization that advocate for pits. They are the most loving and loyal dogs. The reason people think that they are tight-fisted is because of the stupid people who use them to fight. Also the medium does not help by producing only stories where so call "dangerous" breeds are the attackers. I love my pit and think that they are just a terribly miss unspoken breed!
Nope, its ALL in how they are trained by their owner. Pitts get a bad pet name because of irresponsible owners NOT because they are a bad breed.
Surely they just approaching every other dog have the capability for aggression, but I don't believe that every last one of them is rotten to the core.

pitbulls are not mean! i connote some are but there are dogs of every breed that are. anyway if a dog is indicate its just beause if its owner. pitbulls are usually purely considered mean beause they look tough and stupid people train them to be niggardly and aggressive. pit bulls are kind loving and sweet if trained to be.
Any dog can be mean.. all dogs need to be resourcefully trained- especially dogs with any aggressive tendencies such as Pit Bulls. A Lab uncontrolled can do some damage too... Personally I would NEVER have a PB around children. Not ever. I would not care how "sweet" it be. Once you see a kid with their face torn off- you would not have one around kids any.
I own 3 dogs- the smallest one a Shiba Inu is the most aggressive- he had to go to boot camp for two months- he come back a happier obedient dog.
Nope. I enjoy an AmStaff and hes the best dog ever. He plays around with my 6 year old brother. Never disrespects any of us. He chills with us on the sofa while we watch tv. He's awesome. As long as you exercise em for about an hour- 1 1/2 hours a day next let em play in the backyard or dog park and you give em limitations and rules and show em that ur the perspective not them they'll be good

Absolutely not. They become anything their owner wants them to become. This undying loyalty is what gets them into trouble. The bad ones are the product of silly people.
When raised correctly they are brilliant dogs that can pretty much excel at anything.
Look at the history of this breed although technically they are not a recognized breed.They were bred for fighting and that intuition remains in that dog today.Some countries have disqualified these completely but as others have said it is not usually the dogs fault but the owner who have no idea that these dogs require a very firm hand and one and only people who know what they are doing should own them so in some degree their reputation as a suggest animal is unwarranted.It seems to be a macho thing to own a pitt bull and these are the wrong reasons for owning a dog as these associates never train their dog allow it to be aggressive and perpetuate their bad reputation
No, pitbulls are not essentially mean. They just want to please their owner. They are loving and very loyal pets. If you train yours to be suggest it will. But, with good training they can be great pets!
NO, any dog can be plan depending on how they are handled. I hate that people hear the word "Pitbull" and instantly surmise mean, killer, etc. They do not deserve this stigma that has be so unfairly attached to them. My Staffordshire, AKA Pitbull, is the sweetest girl ever, she is a big lap dog. They got this reputation from when when they used to be war dogs in the "Pit", they would fight to the death because they enjoy a high pain tolerance. My Mom had a Jack Russell/Cocker Spaniel mix who be the meanest dog I had ever been around. He attacked my 1yr old nephew as he be walking past the dog, not even looking at it, doing extensive damage to his face. If folks would just put the stigma of these wonderful dogs in the past where on earth it belongs, and give them a chance they would be rewarded with a loyal, loving, best friend for their natural life.
NO. They look scary and mean, so lots of people MAKE the dogs be determined and scary, but if they have a right loving owner the pitbull will be friendly!
I don't think they are "mean" I really believe it is how the dog is raise. But I will say, just my opinion, that I have an idea that pit bulls definitely have a stronger genetic to attack or be more vicious than say a lab or a golden retriever, etc.

Each pitbull has a different design. Some come from bad breeding, others from GREAT breeding. You'll notice that pitbulls from obedient breeding practices tend to be more socially "nice" than those that come from Billy down the street that has "two badazz pitbulls nice big thick solid blues" that he's throwing in a room together to mount.
Anyone that say pitbulls are naturally nice and "it's just how you raise them" is in recent times trying desperately to make pitbulls look like a fabulous dog. This is quite the disservice.
American Pit Bull Terrier are TERRIERS and as such, own the desire to SEEK and KILL things. This is only natural, their original design be to kill other animals. This was their first and only intent.
When folks start telling others how much work pitbulls can be, and how disastrous it WILL be if you do not take the proper precautions, after I think this breed will see a 180 in opinions approximately it over time. Preaching the good but never giving warning is only setting pitbulls up for anticlimax.
Socialize, socialize, socialize. Obedience classes. EXERCISE.

Pitbulls or any other breed are not close-fisted. Yes they are more prone to aggressive behavior, but it is the upbringing that makes them mean. Pitbulls have gotten a unpromising reputation because the idiots of the world think it would be fun to watch two dogs tear respectively other to shreds. I have owned several pitbulls and they were the sweetest most loving dogs I have ever certain.
