20 gallon cistern stocking philosophy?
i was thinking
- 2 pairs of endlers (2 males 2 females)
- 4 platties
- 1 male 2 female swordtails
- 6 rummy snout tetras
hows this sound? and would any off them eat their fry? or other fry
the cistern is fully cycles and has loads of bushy plants
heated, filtered and cycled with sand substrate.
gratefulness in advance
i have guppies right but i am not a fishy type of person i like crabs n stuff lobster crayfish anoxlotl etc but your stocking level are good but man go wild and throw some crabs surrounded by
I have 5 neon tetras, 5 dwarf cloud minnows, 2 platties, 1 three inch black molly, 2 corys (one of which is albino), and 4 ghoul shrimp in my 20 gal.
They all get along and their reasonably entertaining to watch, occupying low mid and high areas of the container.
Answers: I'm not sure nearly Endler's, but swordtails eat their own fry and will eat other fry too. Generally with livebearers, including Endler's, within should be at least 2 females to every male. If you have done specific Endler's research afterwards never mind. Some fry should survive if the tank is densely planted as you read aloud, but you should consider growing some java moss or similiar which is really the best shelter for fry. you could also consider a small bottom feeder or algae eater such as an otoclinus, which stay small. Otherwise, I think so long as you do regular water changes and check for debris biuldups, which can be a problem with sand substrates, you should be fine. Just remember to add only a few fish at a time so that the hose down and bacteria levels stabilise. Have fun :-)
