What charitable of fish for a 5 gallon container?

The safest bet to have a good mini- aquarium.

(No bettas or goldfish)

I am a novice fish owner, and is looking for fish that aren't that knotty to take care of.
the best one would be zebra danios.they are pretty and easy to take attention of.try getting white cloud minnows.guppies would be good choice to but they are harder to take care of.
there are many choices.
Danios (several vareities are available and I am not a certain a lethal injection could kill one...)
guppies
platys
various tetra species (most require 6+ of hte same genus to be happy)
you could do a plant & shrimp tank (could add 2-3 small fish as well).
Many options.

as for learner:
you need:
a small filter (or air spong)
heater (most likely)
tester for ph, ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate (drop testers are better)
remember 25% weekly wet changes

may want to research:
nitrogen cycle http://www.firsttankguide.net/cycle.php
any fish you plan to get (ph, temp, size, etc)

Best of luck!
Cool ones are tetras, guppies, and mollies:)
i would recommend an african dwarf frog(completely aquatic).google them.they are really small, pretty cute.and only just hilarious to watch. they are easy to exactness for, just drop in a few food pellets.you can also acquire a snail to keep the tank clean. i have an idea that adf's are way better than fish. just google them,i think you will approaching them too. if not a frog, then maybe some neon tetras?
Answers:    I would say an african dwarf frog. There is no fish that can survive contained by a 5 gallon tank. 10 gallon would be the absolute minimum. The african dwarf frog can thrive in the smaller cistern and you would actually be able to have two surrounded by a 5 gallon tank.
my brother has a 5 gallon with 5 neon tetras. but that is adjectives you can get. the tetras are pretty hardy.

you could even get 3 or 4 guppies.
get adjectives males if you dont want babies.
white clouds - small, don't need a radiator, will spawn, and not eat their babies

neons - small, need a heater and capably cycled tank, not always very hardy

guppies - small, can live at 68+, so don't have need of a heater in a warm room, similar to a little added salt (1/2 teaspoon per gallon), can multiply and fill up your reservoir pretty fast

mosquitofish - small, like plain gray guppies, not a lot to look at, but they don't requirement a heater and can stand colder temperatures than guppies and I never had them breed as prompt as guppies either in a tank

platys - just about 2 inches, colorful, also breed fast and like a little bit of brackish

paradise fish - like a gourami, but can live at room temperature, individual get one

dwarf puffer - only get in the order of 2 inches, aggressive, so you can't put anything with it, needs good wet quality and cycled tank, likes some live plants surrounded by the tank, this kind doesn't need to own salt

cherry barbs - small, peaceful, males are brighter than females

rasboras - small harmonious, many species, so look up care for each characteristics

there are probably some other ones I'm not thinking of, but that's a decent list
1-2 mollies or guppies. But without doubt no more; you're pushing it as it is, with a tiny tank like that.
a turtle or a frog or a guppie or a memaid or a clownfish or a star fish
guppies
mollies (brackish)
platties
corydoras
Goldfish are out besides, they cant live in a 5gal for very long.

Get some White Cloud Minows, they are small, hardy and dont need a heating system. I have kept them in a 5gal and they actually bred, so they cant own been too stressed about living in the small cistern.
