What Can Go With my Parrot Fish? PLEASE ANSWER?
What mid sized (8 inches), peacful to semi-aggressive Cichlid can go with a Parrot Fish?
Thanks in Advance!
Sometimes nothing. I don't know what size your aquarium is though aggressive fish can be territorial and your current fish may attack anything that enter the aquarium. I don't like any man made fish and would recommend getting rid of this Hybrid and buying some true fish to care for and enjoy.
I have 2 Blood Parrot Cichlids and they are doing wonderfully surrounded by my community tank. I have Tiger Barbs, Bala Sharks, Cory Catfish, etc. All are getting along fine.
The first time I got a BP I put it within with my African Cichlids; no good. I got domestic and they had beaten the hell out of it and ate it's eyeballs. It was disturbing. :(
Since your BP is semi agressive; you may want to choose fish that can out swim it. I propose a large Bala Shark or some Danios.
I hope that helps.
Answers: "Parrot Fish temperments can be unpredictable. It depends on the size of the reservoir though, the larger the tank the more options you have. Other larger and semi-aggressive American Cichlids step well with them. Schooling fish go resourcefully with them too (Tiger Barbs, Larger Tetras, Rainbows). Loaches (not Kuhli), Catfish (be careful of Corys), Plecos...
Beware of Gouramis, they tend to get bullied by cichlids. Stay absent from Discus, Angels and Dwarf Cichlids for the same reason. Livebearers are too slow moving and don't really school, they'll cease up eaten. Kuhli's, Corys and Ottocinclus are just too small, I wouldn't trust it."
You should merely keep your Parrot Fish with each other surrounded by a community tank, as these fish are semi-aggressive. Cichlids are most often than not semi-aggressive, so mixing these fish will not do you so good. I propose that you keep your Parrot Fish alone.
Good luck!
