How Can I Help My Horse?
My Gypsy Vanner Cob gelding is really sweet already but you always have to go to him and i want him to come to me sometimes and I preference he would let me put his halter on.
you see, King was/is still a driving horse and he has little riding experience. Where he used to live they left him surrounded by the stall all day and hardly ever permit him out. Now when ever you go to put the halter on him he runs away because he thinks you will rob him back up to the barn and leave him in a stall. We've never done that to him. He's other out. How can we get him to trust us more. This would really help him and I.
It brings tears to my eyes to think give or take a few how much he means to me. When ever you go up to him (he doesn't always come up first) he a moment ago makes me laugh. He's so funny but really stubborn sometimes. He always trys to chase my other horses around.
don't grasp me wrong at all he has no intention of hurting anyone or things like that but he wants to learn to trust me with the whole halter item.
Also how can i get him to come up to me more?
If you want to hear any funny stories about him or have any question or extra tips, e-mail me at Cheezhed95(a)yahoo.com
Thanks so much!
well start training him to similar to his halter and to make him come take a bucket and put treats in it next make the treats make noise and they will hear it and come when they return with there give them a treat
Take some time with him for the following:
Go out with the halter, and sit down somewhere. He will come to you eventually out of simple curiosity. Don't acknowledge him or trademark any moves toward him. Leave the halter in your lap. Let him sniff you and the halter. If he touches you with his muzzle, dispense his face a light stroke if he is ok next to that. Leave.
Another time, go out and if you can catch him eventually, do so. Put his halter on and stand here and talk to him. Don't lead him anywhere, just stand in that and stroke and talk to him. Remove the halter and leave.
Keep these exercises up in between when you must block him to work him or whatever, and he should learn that you are not out to catch him every time he see you.
If you know someone who knows how to round-pen, try that as well to achieve "join-up". You can read give or take a few it here:
