2 BORED BUNNIES ?
Hi,
I have two 7 month old dwarf female Bunny's.
They enjoy my entire room to themselves- I sleep in the walk in wardrobe lol- They own a 3 storied cardboard house, wooden chew toys, a dirt box for digging and a toss and flip toy.
I spend time with them everyday.
Even after all that they are BORED. All they do is sit in the house and rip it up till I enjoy more boxes to make a new one. They use the chew toys but don't bother with the flip and toss point... they don't seam that interested in pulling things around... or maybe it is just too big for them?
What can I do? Any suggestions? It would be great whether you could list things that I can make at home =)
THANK-YOU ^-^
If my rabbit could he would spend 24/7 within a cardboard box. But I bought him some baby keys and he went insane over them in a minute it is the cardboard box or the keys lol oh and a huge one for him is his cat crinkle tunnel.
Well lets see...
Give them a old phone book to chew and rip
A used toilet roll stuffed with timothy hay
Hang some copier bird toys that have rope and wood and bells on them
A rubbermaid plastic container with a rabbit size hole cut into it full of rag confetti
A small 4 inch beach ball they will push and run along the floor with
a bottle panama (washed well) from a fabric softener bottle
even a small stuffed toy animal with small attachments removed (beenie baby)
Hope this helps
Answers: There are lots of cheap things you can make a contribution to rabbits to play with. Cardboard is right up on the top of the list. Rabbits love ripping paper and cardboard - it's how they "play" next to it. What they're doing is natural, and fun for them. If you dont' mind the mess, phone books can also occupy them - but they make a huge mess (as do full toilet rolls - I found this out by twist of fate!). Other things beside boxes are EMPTY toilet rolls, the tunnels you buy for cats to play in (rabbits LOVE running through tunnels and small spaces!), something high to sit on - mine love a folding chair and sleep resting on it - you could also try a plastic chair, pine cones are always popular, pieces of natural roughage rope, empty plastic containers, like icecream containers, empty plastic drink bottles, ball - about half the size of the bunny, and otherwise, just household probability and ends they can pick up and toss around. You might like to collect a few things and group them into a number of section, and rotate the toys to save boredom.
Just try whatever you can find that you know will be safe for them. My top items are tunnels, pinecones and plastic containers. These never fall through.
My bunnies always liked to chew on cardboard too. You can buy them these cat toys that are ball with jingles (bells or something that makes noise) inside them. They cost about 2-4 dollars and you bring 4 balls, they are light enough for the bunnies to see around and they find it interesting. I've heard people say they clutch the inside of the toilet paper rolls and put timothy hay in the middle and let them play near it, but I had no luck with my bunnies for that one. You could try anything that rolls for toys (balls) but make certain that they don't eat them. Sorry I don't have better ideas, but hopefully something works out! Good luck!
