Should I obtain a hamster or mice?

I'm getting a new pet over Christmas break, but I'm torn between a teddy bear hamster or a couple mice. (I own had both hamsters and mice in the past, so I know what they are approaching.)
If you think hamster: Male or female?
If you think mice: 2 womanly or 1male&1 female

I have plenty of cage space for whichever I prefer on.
iv never had a hamster but I know that mice smell! so i would go for a hamster! =]
