Advice on getting a turtle aquarium?

Alright, so a friend from work is giving me her box turtle. I need to buy a 29 or 30 gallon aquarium for it. She claims she saw one for 40 dollars. I went to Petsmart and a 29 gallon there be 74 dollars and a 30 gallon at a local pet store was 89 dollars. I checked on Amazon and Ebay and various other pet store websites and all they sold be the ones that come with the huge base. I called Wal*Mart and they said they have one but Im not sure how much it was. Does anyone know where I can find one not too expensive??
no matter what it costs get a container that will be big enough for your turtle to comfortably move around in, i have my box turtle surrounded by a 30 gallon tank and i paid $85.00 for mine. i ordered it from a reptile place online. and be sure to grasp a under the tank heater for your turtle and a boil light and a thermometer for your tank too. and plenty of hiding things for it. because they love to hide. i put shredded weekly in my tank. so my box turtle can hide within it. good luck

Box turtles don't necessitate tanks, just a shallow dish of water surrounded by a larger enclosure. Some people build a table-like habitat with sides dignified enough to retain the turtle. Your main problem with this setup is to keep hold of the humidity high. You can do this by spraying water or keeping a dish of wet sphagnum surrounded by there.

Answers:    I would check the classified ad, thrift stores and yard sales. Maybe even consider spending a few bucks to place your own ad surrounded by the wanted section.
For comparison, I advertised our two 55 gallon tank, completely set-up, with stand for $200.
